Frequently Asked Questions

A: Your first class is typically the most challenging, regardless of what age or physical shape you are in. Even though the movements are slow and gentle, they're still new to you, your muscles are working, and it may be somewhat tiring. But don't lose heart! Most new students will tell you that they feel energized and have a great feeling of well-being after just one class. Usually by the third class, they are hooked on Tai Chi and attend regularly.
A: There are no set rules for how often to practice. Some students come almost every day while others come one to three times a week. The benefits of Tai Chi can be felt after only one class, so we believe that you will find the right number that works best for your body, schedule, and life.
A: Tai Chi has evolved into a graceful, meditative form of exercise that's now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. It promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. When performed regularly, you can benefit from decreased stress, anxiety and depression; improved mood and aerobic capacity; increased energy and stamina; greater flexibility, balance and agility; and enhanced muscle strength and definition.
A: Tai Chi is beneficial for men, women and even children. Because it's low impact and puts minimal stress on muscles and joints, it's generally safe for all ages and fitness levels. In fact, because Tai Chi is a low-impact exercise, it may be especially suitable if you're an older adult who otherwise may not exercise. It improves strength, balance, flexibility, and overall health and happiness' and that's priceless for anybody and every body.
A: No. The most common misconception that prevents people from doing Tai Chi is that they think they must be in shape first. Tai Chi is not about how fit and coordinated you are; it's about moving and optimizing your body and mind to develop and increase your strength, balance, flexibility, and overall health and happiness. With time, practice and patience, you will most likely benefit from getting and staying in shape.

Bought a gift certificate for my mom so this review is from her to try Tai Chi. The facility and instructors are good. Lots of different classes available. The only things that could be improved is providing more tai chi class times - some of the classes are quite full with people a bit close. And the facility can be warm at times. Maybe set the ac to a lower temperature. Otherwise a good facility in a good location. If not for warm facility and congested classes she would have subscribed.

I have nothing but high praise for this School. Sifu Robinson is a great teacher and has been a wonderful influence in my grandson's life. He has been a student there since he was three years old. He is now 7, and it has become very important in our lives. It is as much about integrity and learning to do the right thing, as it is about developing A Martial Arts practice. I am a very grateful Grammy!
